This was an introductory session on different sketching practices where participants experienced free-hand perspective sketching techniques. Participants learned the different types of drawings and their purpose. The sketching exercise helped participants to visualise different products and situations in different conditions, which will further help them in the design process.

Crawling Creature

The participants assembled electromechanical walking/ crawling creatures that walked on different surfaces.

A customizable DIY kit was given with variable components. Their decisions and customizations of the creature’s body shaped the walking pattern as well as the aesthetics of the final result.

Visualizing Through Illustrations

Participants were introduced to the purpose of different types of drawings.

They identified the potential solutions by sketching a wide range of drawings. This exercise helped in visualizing the broader aspects of a particular design problem and the possible solutions

Natural Dye Workshop

Participants learnt the basics of natural Dye, how to choose fabrics for natural dyes, making dye baths and extracting different colours from available dye sources.

The participants discovered the beauty of colours found in nature and applied them to create fabrics, garments and one-of-a-kind products/ accessories. This workshop was conducted twice to meet the demand.

Zentangle art workshop

A meditative art form that is easy to learn, fun and relaxing way to create beautiful artworks by drawing structured patterns. Practising Zentangle art increases focus and creativity; provides artistic satisfaction with an increased sense of personal well being.

Participants created beautiful patterns by choosing different design elements of their choice on a4 size cartridge paper.

The Craft of Interactive Handmade Pamphlet

The workshop was about learning the basics of graphic elements and principles with story, structure and imagination.

The participants explored paper as a medium by creating various folds and making interactive pamphlets for the festivals. The folds were further explored in combination with graphic elements.

Wrapping- rag (upcycling waste)

Prashanth Nadiprasad is an architect and industrial designer.

The goal of the workshop was to educate the participant about upcycling. The participants gave products/ discarded components and materials a new lease of life and into a new range of diverse products.

During the workshop participants were introduced to the process of creating aesthetic value. The outcomes were visually rich textile compositions using the waste and discarded fabric pieces.
